Iāve updated to iOS 12.3.1 and now all my old text messages are gone. I am sure I havenāt deleted them and Iāve always set the keeping of old text to āforeverā. I donāt backup to ICloud.
As important information has been is there any way I can get old texts back?

Are you using Messages in iCloud? That is not the same as backing them up.
Did you ever back up to iTunes?
If you have no backup and were not syncing them, they are gone.
