An Apple ID is an email address.
Since he no longer has access to that email and does not know the password, it sounds like he can just start from scratch.
His apple ID is from a previous place of employment and he no longer has access to those emails therefore can not retrieve his password. He has forgotten his password. That was two phones ago. Does the apple ID need to be an email account?
You should absolutely avoid doing this. The two iPhones would receive the same iMessages, for example.
Each and every person, regardless of age, needs his/her own Apple ID.
I am trying to get my dad from a 5C to a new XR. My mother has an XR as well. He wants to start fresh and NOT transfer his contacts. Can I have his phone on the same apple ID as my mother's phone?
