You do not say what exact Mac /model /year /size /retina /touchbar is this ?
A swollen battery can adversely affect the mouse.

check the condition of
your battery, hold down the option key and click on the battery icon in
the menu bar. If the condition is anything other than Normal, take your
Mac to an Apple Store to get it replaced
