I can't get macOS Catalina to to open a login page when I connect to public wifi. It works with new networks but some hotspots that I frequently use (particularly BA lounges) just won't open up.
I've tried:
Opening new pages
Opening the routers home/default page
Clearing cookies
trying non-https sites in incognito
Restarting
Removing the wifi network from saved list
Turning wifi off and on
Clearing DNS cache
MacBook
Try a safe boot.
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
If it works with a safe boot then you have some third party app that is launching during or after normal boot that is causing the issue.
this works however its only a temporary fix...any advice for a permanent one?
its not isolated to one account, it occurs with all attempts to log into public wifi (eg starbucks)
Create a test admin login and login to that account normally. If it works properly there, then there is probably something wonky with your regular account, i.e. something is being loaded that is blocking the network when you login to that account.
