Then you did not perform the user account name change properly probably by not renaming the user folder or modifying the path to the user folder. Here are the Apple instructions which must be followed exactly:

The user account folder name in section one of the article must match exactly the "Account name" in section two. And the "Home directory" path in section two must include the correct name from section one as well.

You should always have good verified working backups especially before making major changes like this one.
