Dragging to copy content from a selected cell to adjacent cells in Numbers defaults to creating a series in the adjacent cells if the original selected cell contains only one letter. How do I just copy?
iMac 21.5", macOS 10.14
enter "R" in cell C6, then enter "R" in D6
now select cells C6 and D6, then drag the yellow fill control as needed

Shift click to extend the selection

Thanks Ian. That is a good trick. I was looking for a way to drag the yellow button on the edge of the selected cell to copy. It works for cells containing numbers, but for cells containing a single letter, dragging creates a series.
