I am getting an error on my usb drive stating the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer

I am trying to create an bootable usb drive from an iso using the dd command in terminal and keep getting the following error: The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer

iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.15

It might not be. Mac OS X can't write to NTFS with built-in drivers. Also to make it bootable, you have to reformat it HFS+/GUID or APFS
