Why isn't there any progress bar when you copy files MacOS to iPhone?

In most instances, when you copy a file from a Mac using Finder, you will see a little "pie chart" beside the iPhone icon in the sidebar. There is no time indication. It's possible this may not appear when dragging files directly to a third party app.
