IMAP emails down after installing new iMac via iCloud

Hi,

Do you know of any issues that might effect the running of Apple Mail if I'm connected to iCloud? In particular having 2 computers with the same email accounts on?

I recently bought a new Mac and once I launched Apple Mail on it the emails on my old Mac went down. However, after disconnecting iCloud from my new computer they all appeared on the old Mac the next day.

I now need to get Mail to work on my new computer, but given what happened I'm of course reluctant. Do you have any solution to this problem, or advice?

The old Mac and new Mac are signed in with same Apple ID and password say example1@icloud.com on the same network , the mails synced , for your new Mac its up to you to sign out the existing Apple ID from system preferences see the article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mh36825/10.14/mac/10.14 , and sign in with new Apple ID and password say example2@gmail.com and set up IMAP account with it https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mail35803/mac
