How do I copy text messages from my iPhone message app?

How do I copy text messages from my iPhone message app so they can be put in another document? Or alternately how do I re-link the Messages app on my MacBook Pro? Can I copy and paste the text from there?

I'm using iOS 13 on an iPhone 11 Pro.. all I have to do to copy a text is put my finger on the text and hold it there until a menu comes up. Select Copy and go to another app and Paste it wherever. I can even Copy with my iPhone and Paste with my MacBook.
