iPod touch latest iOS version?

I’ve an iPod touch, it’s a few years old and not used for a while. Tried to download the Audible app but it said it needed iOS version 13 or higher. Latest I can download to my iPod is iOS version 12.4.8. Is there not a version 13 available for the touch or do I have an old model?

I think perhaps you have misunderstood what Niel has said.


  • we know that your iPod must be a 6th generation model because it is the only model that would use iOS 12.4.8
  • the 6th generation model is not powerful enough to run iOS 13
  • the 7th generation iPod Touch can run iOS 13
  • Apple sell the 7th generation iPod Touch
