Will take awhile to test, but...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?
I think it's a damaged plist.

Just switch off the option so it will never lock unless you close your mac or make it sleep/lock screen/shutdown/restart from the apple menu!
Either uncheck or change this setting
I thank you for the answer. I will see if that resolves my issue.
I set it to 4 hours and it still locks up after about 1 hour, so any other thoughts? Anyone?
It was off before I set it to 4 hours, I turned off again, I will see but I do not think it will help since this is the way it was before?????
I think you have solved my problem, very thankful to you.
