Is it possible for my son to have his own apple music library WITHOUT removing him from family sharing.

With Apple Music's Family plan... I DO NOT want my kids to have access to MY music (some are explicit versions). It says "each family member gets their own personal music library, and music recommendations based on what they love to listen to." However, my son is logged in under his icloud account but sees MY full music library? How can I change that? Is it possible for him to have his own library WITHOUT removing him from family sharing.

As you point out, with an Apple Music Family subscription and with the Family Sharing plan (when properly setup), everyone gets their own personal music library. You can share playlists (if you want) but not the entire library.

Are you and you son sharing an Apple ID? If so, that is not Family Sharing. See step 5 in:

Get an Apple Music family subscription - Apple Support

which requires you to set up Family Sharing
