Now nearing the end of the year and still no Pages update that will fill the massive holes left from the shutdown of IBA. Without real interactivity, books created in Pages are little better than PDFs. I sincerely hope that Apple hasn’t abandoned the education community in this area as well. If anyone has found a reasonable way to implement interactivity without having to pay for another service, please share. Our ability to create books with IBA was THE reason our school purchased 300+ iPads and are now plainly stating that they won’t shell out for new ones if we can’t have the same functionality. Truly a shame.

If you had iBooks Author prior to Aug 1, 2020, you can still use it, as now, it is no longer available for download.

Pages v10.1 or later for Mac has only the ability to open certain iBook Author document (.iba) content, and translate it into a Pages document. Apple provides an article about that process in, Import your iBooks Author book into Pages for Mac. As of this post, Pages for Mac does not have any iBooks Author widgets, nor additional iBooks Author creativity features implemented in it.

These are fellow user supported public communities, and neither Apple, nor the Apple product teams participate here. Consequently, only the Pages product team knows the planning road map, and release schedule for future Pages updates, and the iBooks Author migration process.

If your school has an Apple sales representative, speak with them about this, and perhaps they can get you a non-disclosure from the Pages product team about future iBooks Author integration with that product.
