I thought the above link would mention an external drive, but I see it does not. I always back up my device to computer and then back the computer up to external drive. I hope someone else will help more than I have.
Thanks, but I can't backup to my computer (MacBook Pro) since I only have 500GB of flash storage, and my iPhone has almost 256GB of data; not enough room with all my other apps and docs!
