After IOS 14 my front facing camera not working

Why is the front facing camera not working after upgrading to IOS 14? There has even been another update and this was not addressed. I have tried resetting the phone and it does nothing. Apple has essentially disabled one of the most important functions on my phone.

Hey rthouck,

Looking over your post we see that after updating to iOS 14, the front facing camera on your iPhone no longer works.

Can you elaborate a bit more as to what happens when you attempt to use the camera? For example is there an error? Or is it just a black screen, or does the app close or become non-responsive?

Additionally, take a look over the steps here, and let us know if the issue persists.

Cheers!

Hey rthouck,

Thanks for the additional details.

To confirm, when you reset the iPhone to factory settings, was it using the steps for Finder or iTunes as outlined below?

If so, and the iPhone was set up as new, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for further assistance from here:

Take care.

The screen turns black and nothing happens. I can't use Facetime, take pictures, etc... I've tried ever app I have that uses the front camera and nothing.

I've tried resetting the phone, no help. From a cursory search of the internet this appears to be a common problem among iphone 7 users in relation to the ios 14 update.

As for your link .... no its not a case blocking the camera. It does not take pictures at all. I've reset the phone. I've reset the phone to factory settings too (no fix but then I had to spend an hour changing everything back to the way I want it).
