Why can’t I change my Apple ID to my email? It is now currently my dads email and it won’t let me change it

Is your email address used as a rescue email address? You can't re-use an email address used with Apple before, at least not without waiting a long time.

Change your Apple ID - https://support.apple.com/HT202667 - "Follow these steps to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID." Plus special instructions if your Apple ID ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com. You may also wish to turn off "Find My" before changing information and turn it on again afterward.
