Since updating to IOS 14.4 a few days ago, my battery life is abysmal.
iPhone 7 would easily run all day before the update, now I have to charge it multiple times a day.
Battery Health shows 82%, the same as before the software download.
Don't see that any settings have been changed and my use has not been any different.

The Forced Restart can solve a multitude of problems. I have used it a few times over the life of my phone for various reasons. It has almost always helped and I do not recall it ever causing any additional problems. The procedure varies by phone model. I would start here:

Somewhat surprised that 82% Health might be nearing end-of-life and that it happened at exactly the same time as the 14.4 update.
Apple News is my user at 82% (also) and 37 minutes.
That's just crazy.
Was thinking about a new phone in the near future but not this near!
Not really a "power user". Phone is mostly used to check weather radar when away from the house, make notes to myself, an occaisional text message or to read news when standing in line somewhere. With 3G still prominent here, "slow" is the way of life.
same here, since the update, the battery id draining in my 6s, 7s plus and XR.
its like they are forcing us to go buy new phones. This is not acceptable by Apple, I has actually become a cordless phone which is always on a charge. Home. Car and office.
Apple needs to resolve or send us new phones. Apple can we have an answer on this, please!!

The "Hard Reset" or "Force Restart" seems to have pretty much fixed my problem. I did it at least twice as sometimes my phone displays a different screen than Apple says it would. Tried it once with volume up button and once with volume down. Got a different screen each time but in the end, it is now better. Not as good as before, but much, much better.
One thing I noticed was a bar graph shown under “Battery”. “Settings” > “Battery”. Scroll down a bit to a graph showing Battery Usage and Activity. After the update the data was inverse of what it should show in my opinion. The Battery usage was way up while the activity was down significantly. Now they are more in line with each other.
Hello. just wanna ask. How to do the Hard reset or Force restart? My Battery is Draining also and Everytime my phone is unplugged to charger my phone is going to shutdown even my % is 100 or 90+%. Hm? What can i suppose to do? Thankyou in advance.
80% is as low as you want to take a battery. Try removing Apple News from your recently used apps and the do a forced restart of your iPhone.
Check Setting > Battery and see what apps are using the highest percentage of your battery. And you are really close to needing a new battery.
Not sure what you mean by remove from "recently used apps".
OK, Gotcha. I almost always close apps when not in use. Hate "clutter".

Closing all apps after you use them can actually lead to the iPhone slowing down. I only close ones I'm having an issue with.
Forced Restart seems to have mostly solved problem.
Have restarted many times in the past, usually for a functionality problem, never for battery or power management issues.
