Apple ID verification code being sent out of nowhere?

recently got a Apple verification code. I thought somebody got my username and password and I was trying to login somewhere else. I change my password to something that doesn’t match any other account. I woke up today and I got another verification code. Is this legitimate?

Someone may be trying to sign your Apple ID, which would generate the request for a verification code. Since you have 2 Factor Authentication enabled, as long as they can't access one of your trusted devices, they can't get a code, and sign in. You should be okay.
