Apple logo stuck

I got this iphone 6s as a gift from someone and I've had it for an year but one day when i tried charging it, the screen would stay in the apple logo screen forever. It only came off when the device had no more power left and turned off. I was wondering what happened to it and if i could take it to apple to see if it can get fixed. If so how much would it be?
