You can, but all purchases, and apps and icloud content is tied to your Apple ID. If you create a new one, it will have none of that.

Best to recover the password for your current Apple ID.

If you really want to create a new one, and are o.k with losing all data tied to the old Apple ID, then go to https://appleid.apple.com and scroll down to see the “Create new Apple ID” link.
