Retrieving Default Tool Box in Mail on MacBook Pro

The TOOL bar in MAIL on My MacBook Pro running High Sierra has disappeared. I think the previous user clicked on something they shouldn't have and here is what I see


How do I get it back to looking like this:

So I did try that....I found the box which allows you to DRAG the default set into the TOOL BAR. But when I drag it up and try to drop it, nothing happens. Which spot do I drag it on to so that it appears? Beside the minimize and maximize buttons, into the blank bar which is next to FLAG or into the line below?? I did watch a You Tube video, but wasn't clear on which area to drag it onto? As you can tell, I am not a techie ;-)
