Your iPhone 11 Pro Max is NOT waterproof. It is water resistant. The iPhone 11 Pro Max is rated IP68, so it's water resistant up to 13 feet (4 meters) for 30 minutes. Bottom line is that you should do your best to not let your iPhone get in contact with water.
