Family Sharing Screentime

Forgot the passcode for Family Sharing Screentime/Downtime. Cannot find anywhere to reset it without the current code. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi! That would be super annoying to deal with! I think there should be an option to reset it via Settings>Screen Time>Change Screen Time Password> Forgot Password.

Then it should ask you for your Apple ID password. For more of an in-depth explanation apple has an article about it here: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT211021

I hope this helps!

The full answer...

If you have forgotten the ScreenTime Passcode, dependent upon the age/model of your iPad, the ScreenTime Passcode can be reset using one of the two procedures outlined within this link:

If you forgot your Screen Time passcode - Apple Support

If your iPad is capable of supporting iPadOS 13.x or later, you should update to the most current version before attempting to resolve a forgotten ScreenTime passcode. The most recent iPadOS updates have introduced a new mechanism whereby a forgotten ScreenTime passcode can be reset without wiping the iPad.

To reset a forgotten ScreenTime passcode on older versions of iOS/iPadOS, such as iOS 12.5.1, the iPad must be reset “as new”, losing all locally stored data. In this situation, you’ll not be able to restore your data from an iCloud or iTunes backup - as the forgotten passcode is integral to the backup.

I hope this clarification and full explanation is helpful to you.

There is actually a way to do this without wiping you valued data and that is the use of third party software. If you have a windows or Mac computer then you should be good to go as this software doesn't require premium features to do so.
