AT&T email no password provided

Today my email has an error saying “no password provided for ATT. Please go to email account settings and enter a password”. The password is still in settings just like it has been. I reentered the password but it still gives the same error message. I do not have this problem on my laptop, only on my iPhone so I can’t access mail anymore.

Thank you razmee209 for your help and for responding so quickly. I did contact AT&T and after much troubleshooting ended up having to create a "secure mail key" on my iPhone that only works on my phone and adds extra security for email. The original password still works on my laptop. Thanks to AT&T I now have different two different passwords/codes and usernames for the same email account. Not happy about that but it did fix the problem.

Contact AT&T or look at their support site. Not an iphone or Apple issue.

An app specific password, everyone company is doing this like your credit card or bank ... **** even comcast is sending me codes to access my account.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

I guess I’ll have to get used to it and expect more of the same in the future but you’re right that it’s better to be safe.

I could be wrong but you won't need to enter that app specific password all the time.

I have one for my work exchange account, and if I sign into my account on a new device or web browser I have to enter the code.

Every once in awhile I have to enter the code again on my phone only because it's been a long time, since I enter the code the first time.
