I can’t turn my iPhone 12 pro max off. Any suggestions?
To close down any iphone you don’t need buttons
Just tap Setting/General scroll down and tap shut down (its in blue at the bottom of the list !)

Try force restart and then check if it turns back to normal.
To force restart, follow this sequence:
Press and release volume up (+)
Press and release volume down (-)
Hold Power button until you see the Apple logo again on the screen.
You likely didn't hold the side power button long enough. It can take up to 30 seconds.
Press and quickly volume up button
Then press and quickly release volume down button
Then press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button (keep holding past any message on the screen, and keep holding even if the screen goes completely black) UNTIL the Apple Logo appears, THEN LET GO.

How exactly are you trying to power your phone off?
The correct procedure is to hold the volume up and side power buttons at the same time until you see the swipe to power off. Then you swipe to power off.
I can't turn off my iPhome 12 Pro Max. I've tried volume up then down and power button. It won't go off. I hel the power button plus volume and it called 911. My phone is currently frozen in medical emergency mode and there is no medical emergency!!
I wasn't the person who provided the directions to do a forced restart. I gave you the correct directions to power off your phone.

I can’t do a force start by pressing vol up, then vol down and then right side button?
Why? I can only do a vol up and a right side togetrher and then swipe switch off
