Battery Settings not working

Does that still persist after disconnecting your power adapter, restarting your MacBook Pro, and reconnecting the power adapter?

Try this: Go to SystemPreferences, Security and Privacy and unlock the padlock. Click on Advanced and select "Require an adminstrator password to access system-wide preferences". Click on OK.

If you go Battery now, and unlock the padlock, are you able to change the settings?
