Following the latest update for my Apple Watch the heart rate monitor no longer works properly.
Unless I manually press the heart button it does not measure the heart rate.
once it measures the heart rate once it’ll turn itself off.
this is a problem as having had previous heart issues I need to see when my heart rate is spiking.

Unless you're in a workout the heart monitor doesn't check your heart rate live.

This information, as well as other data it collects, helps Apple Watch estimate how many calories you’ve burned. In addition, Apple Watch measures your heart rate throughout the day when you’re still, and periodically when you’re walking (Apple Watch Series 1 or later).

Yes that’s correct - when I’m working out it doesn’t work tho. Example if I’m walking then move into hill sprints then walk back down the hill when I check my watch the last heart rate if from 20 minutes ago.
I am also having problems with the heart rate monitor after the last update. I have completely reset it and re-paired it with my phone and it's no better. It will go from 140 in a workout to 40 to 90 back to 140 in a matter of a minute. And it does not keep up when I increase my intensity. It's beyond frustrating.
I reset and was fine for the first time of testing then returned to playing up again. Whenever I’m about to push myself I make sure I hit the heart button just before during and after so it’ll keep up. Agreed very annoying.
