I downloaded and installed my office software that I purchased with my mac but i still have the word, excel and powerpoint apps X OUT AND IT SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. Why is this software not up to date after the installation

I purchased the office home and student software when i purchased my mac I downloaded it and installed it but it still says i don't have it and it wants me to go to the app store to purchase it. why is this not working for me

Most likely you have older versions which no longer work on newer software.
