How to Reset Apple Keyboard A1314 to factory condition?

How to Reset Apple Keyboard A1314 to factory condition?

I also want to "purge" the info on the keyboard. If not it will show up with the ID name from when it was originally setup. I want it so it sees the pairing as it's first(new name,etc..)

I have tried shift-option-click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, scroll down to the keyboard in question, and click "Factory Reset". And tried reset all bluetooth conections

I have also tried hold down the power button at the right for 6 seconds. After it turns off, press the button (just tap). When the keyboard tuned on again, go to Bluetooth Setup Assistant and perform the pairing process.

Reset Apple Keyboard A1314 to factory condition

I still own one of those classic A1314 keyboard alongside with original 1900 mAh 1.2 V HR6. They supersizing working so well over years.

Now comes very useful way when it cames with removable AA batteries, To be make sure A 1314 get completely factory reset you just leave it without batteries install overnight. * I've actually done that only 1 time and it's years ago.

I have tried shift-option-click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, scroll down to the keyboard in question, and click "Factory Reset". And tried reset all bluetooth conections

It looks like you've already known how to reset BT on macOS. Have you able to confirmed that actually worked after restart your Mac in recent macOS system? If not. Have you try to VRAM clean up?

Hello. Thank you for your reply.

After I have made factory settings using shift-option-click the Bluetooth, I see no changes. It is as if nothing has happened. Have done this on the other Bluetooth accessories as well. No changes.

I have not tried to reset VRAM on my Macbook. My Macbook works great outside of this. I consider the reset of VRAM as a last desperate chance that I want to avoid at this point. Is it possible to reset RAM on a wireless keyboard?

I will try to remove the batteries from the keyboard overnight as you advise me to.

Can anyone tell me how Bluetooth devices are named? Why does my Keyboard change from "Apple Wireless Keyboard" to " X name`s keyboard"? Has this been created by connecting this keyboard to a device that has his name (X name`s Ipad or Mabook)? Or could this name be given after connected this keyboard with a device associated with an Apple ID with its name?

Does anyone have a "fix" on this "first world problem"? Or do I have to hope that this "fixes itself" somehow?

Thanks for all the answers!

Hi O

You are absolutely right on VRAM reset. There're no needed for instance mirrors.

However in your perverse post was First Mentioned

" How to Reset Apple Keyboard A1314 to factory condition? I also want to "purge" the info on the keyboard. "

That shows you need a reset preform on A 1314. Bluetooth chip sleep in Mac acting as host, While peripherals has another BT chip on your keyboard acting like satellite. When post shows main mirror is locate at satellite devices we should consider first at them instead of host end.

Now, Removable battery is one in another way to reset the A 1314 which is 'satellite '. When comes given a name to a BT devices there're info save onto devices chip. Just like you mentioned the

If not it will show up with the ID name from when it was originally setup. I want it so it sees the pairing as it's first(new name,etc..)

Which is the reason behind, I totally respected.

Also the reason behind that I suggest you to remove the batteries inside A 1314 is because

'I have tried shift-option-click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar, scroll down to the keyboard in question, and click "Factory Reset". And tried reset all bluetooth conections'

You have already performed a host end reset, So I've had thought that issues might not on host end. And yet you answered as nothing changed.

I see no changes.
