I reset my AirPods and they wont reconnect

So the other day I noticed my right AirPod wasn't working so I decided to reset them. And when I had forgot them from device they wouldn't reconnect to my phone. I even put them in another case and let them sit for 30 seconds and they still wouldn't connect to my phone. What was strange was the fact that my friend was able to connect his AirPods when we swapped cases. So in conclusion I think my AirPods are the problem not the case.
