iCloud and fraud

Dear Apple

Support and Service Team,

I am

writing you from Kazakhstan, Almaty city. My name is Sholpan and I have a big

request regarding my IPhone X phone, 64gb, space gray. The phone was purchased

by me on November 24, 2019. Serial number is GO***CLF, IMEI –***

In

connection with the purchase of a new phone, I put the above mentioned phone on

sale on 18 October 2021 and came across scammers: they asked me to leave my iCloud

and enter their username “***@mail.ru” and password. Then they changed

the password and ask money from me in order to get out of their iCloud.

I’m

attaching pics of phone’s box and other respective pics.

Can you pls help me with this fraud accident? What can be

done in order I can use my previous iCloud or how I can get passoword for this

specific fraud username?

I’m really looking forward to your feedback and hope for

your support in this issue.

If any other information is needed, just pls let me know.

Best Regards, Shoplan

In order to have the activation lock removed, you will have to provide Apple with the original proof of purchase for the device from Apple or an authorized retailer.

That phone was originally sold in the US. If you purchased it in the US, and have the original sales receipt, contact Apple's account security team.

If you purchased it elsewhere, you purchased a gray market device and will not be able to show legitimate proof of purchase.

If that's the case, Apple can't help you.
