How to cancel a subscription on an old Apple ID

My old Apple ID is no longer accessible due to it being linked to a phone number that I have no access to anymore. I am still getting charged from iTunes for an ongoing subscription that I need to cancel, does anyone know how I can do this? I am in Mexico and there are no Apple stores and I haven’t been able to get through to anybody to fix this online.

  1. Apple does have a couple of retail stores in Mexico City. Retail Apple Stores Mexico - Apple Store - Apple (MX) which may not work for you.
  2. The phone number associated with an Apple Id has no bearing on its functionality or accessibility. If you know the password, you should be able to access it.
  3. You will need access to the Apple ID to cancel the subscription. You cannot cancel the subscription if you cannot access the Apple ID as that would lead to all sorts of account shenanigans by unauthorized 3rd parties.
  4. If you have access to the associated email address and know the password, you can access the account. Otherwise, you will need to contact Apple support so they can help you regain access to the account that holds the subscription.

yes it’s making us 2 the stupid 2 factor verification to a phone number that we no longer have.

it’s a nightmare.

If you are effectively trying to break into an account protected by two-factor authentication—what’s happening here is indistinguishable from that—then your options are to use account recovery, and then a discussion directly with Apple:

This is ridiculous.

So these links are not working?

Your seeming sole remaining option is your credit card provider, and blocking future charges.

Not true. You need to access it through the phone number if looking in from a new phone.

The phone number is only relevant here as a trusted telephone number when responding to two-factor authentication, and maybe also as part of identity verification when contacting Apple directly to try to regain control of the Apple ID with account recovery.
