Will charging with MagSafe wear out the battery quicker than the regular wired usb c cable solution?

No, MagSafe is apple certified and if you use it with the apple certified 20 watt brick it wont damage the battery. However, my experience is using type c cable with a 20 watt brick charges much faster.
