Aol email works on ipad and PC but not on iphone

My AOL email works fine on my iPad but on my iphone I get a message from January 2020 that I need a password. my email settings on my ipnone have a password and was reset across all my devices in 12/21

Sounds like you have encountered AOL's need to have device specific passwords. See this information. If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
