Thanks for those additional details. Based on what you describe, that photo might have been AirDropped to you. But we understand the concern with any security safeguards in place that would give you the opportunity to accept or allow an AirDropped photo.
We're glad to hear you've already reset your Apple ID login and checked for any unusual activity on all your devices. From this point forward, we'd recommend connecting directly with our support teams to look into this concern further. You can reach them here:

I heard the tone I have set as an airdrop but my devices were not near anyone else. I picked up my iPad and saw a photo in my iCloud Photo Library had simply opened with a photo still highlighted as recently added and when I looked at my iphone and later computer, the picture was on every device as recent photo in my photo library. The information on the photo is blank (date, origin, etc.) I changed my Apple log ins etc, but on lists of devices, etc, nothing was unusual and I had no shared albums. The photo is of a young man in what looks like the middle of Times Square, NYC. Completely unrelated to me or anything I’ve looked at recently. It remains a mystery but also concerning in that none of my security safeguards show anything happened. Is there a way to trace activity….especially not on the photo which has none of the time stamps even if it’s appearing in my photo library.
Hey Tilliebee,
We understand you've got a photo in your iCloud photo album which you don't recognize. If you're not seeing any unknown devices associated with your iCloud account it's difficult to say where it could have come from.
Are you perhaps in any shared iCloud albums? Where specifically are you seeing this unrecognized photo? Is this in your Library or one of your albums? If an album, is it under My Albums or Shared Albums?
Lastly, if you do feel your Apple ID and iCloud account could be compromised, check out these steps: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised
Let us know what you find out.
Take care!
Thank you for your response and was wondering if this happens to people randomly ever. The photo is not offensive or bothersome, just a mystery.
