I wonder. I have never set "darkness" on my Apple Watch. In fact I didn't know that there was such a setting. Perhaps a recent upgrade? I'll need to go through the settings again and learn....

It turns dark after a specified period;
15 seconds or 70 seconds depending on which one you have it set to.
