What is the quickest way to transfer photos from icloud to another iphone?

The issue is my son and I were both logged into the same Apple ID and it has merged our photos together. I logged out on his phone and it wiped all of his images. If I log back into Apple ID on his phone, will it download all of the contents or can I select what is his to download to his phone then log him out permanently?
