Hi, wondering if iMessage is also a iPad Air feature that can be used?
I would like to use iMessage on my iPad, using my android phone

Yes. iMessage is Apple's proprietary internet messaging service and works with iPhones, iPads and Macs. It only works with other users also using Apple devices however.
