I bought Itunes match for my new mac mini but I can not turn on library synch in Music

I can not turn on library synch to synch my new mac mini with my icloud music library. I bought Itunes match. The option is present in Music Preferences nd is not grayed out. When I check and exit preferences, it does not stay checked and is unchecked when I reopen peferences. If I do not close preferences it stays checked but the library does not synch.

When I try to list Albums or Artist in my library I just get the "forever spinning wheel". My internet connection is fine and fast.

Any suggestions short of trying to reinstall the operating system (Mac Monterey 12.6)

Try holding down option+cmd to open your library in Music's safe mode. This might help with your sticky preference issue. Alternatively try signing out of your Apple ID then sign in again. Also make sure the computer is authorized to your Apple ID before attempting to enable Sync Library.

Those were the first things I tried. My computer is authorized and safe mode was not helpful. In fact in "safe mode" I could not quit music and had to use stl/alt/esc to get out of the frozen program.

Reinstalling the current operating system is a reasonable approach to unexpected behaviour with the built in apps. Your data should be safe, but you should ideally back everything up first. Do you have Time Machine set up?

You could hold down option as you launch Music, create a new library and see if things are any different there. Reinstalling the OS, to reinstall Music, might be the way to go.

Thank you. My laptop runs Catalina and has no problems so I was thinking of reinstalling Catalina but was hoping for a different solution. Maybe Apple will have an update to Monterey!!?!
