iMessages no longer sends or receives; not activated after email address removed

In error, I deleted my email address from “Send & Receive” in iMessages, leaving just my phone #. Now I can’t send or receive, no option to add the address back, just spinning wheel. Now I have “waiting for activation” with no S & R ability. +24 hours.

Thanks. I had tried all those steps, actually more than once.

So I thought what a tech might tell me from Support: I backed up the phone’s data & settings and then reset everything. I finished with a restore from backup ( & the consequent deleting of 750 old emails). Back in business!! 🥳
