"The selected device could not be found." iPhone to Mac

Mac Mini 12.6 doesn't see iPhone 2 16.03. iPhone shows up in USB list and in Finder volumes list; icon shows up in window field but after some time "Loading" I get the error in the title.

The selected device could not be found iPhone12Pro connected (with an Apple USB cable), to MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.7 and shows up in the left hand sidebar. I click it and the main screen says "Loading" with a spinning icon but after a few minutes I get the message "The selected device could not be found". Yet is is still showing up in the sidebar under "Locations". I've restarted the Mac, turned of the iPhone for a few minutes and reconnected it but still have the same issue. I once got the message to unlock the iPhone, and the "Do you Trust this Computer" messages and responded accordingly but still get the same message after a few minutes.

Why does my iPhone 15 Pro Max not display content in the main Finder window when connected to a Mac running macOS Monterey? iPhone 15 pro Max. macOS Monterey v.12.6.7. Late 2015 iMac 27” so, unable to update O.S. This has happened b4 ~ 4 times in the past 1 ½ years. The only solution that has worked is to restart my Mac. What does NOT work: Restart iPhone Restart Finder. Plug iPhone cable into back of iMac USB port instead of into the USB Hub. Unplug/replug or reverse the USB-C plug. My iPhone does chime when connect to Mac iPhone does appear under locations in left Finder pane with the eject icon on R side (which does not work.) I can also R click the iPhone & select eject & that also does not work. Why does this happen? I have the same peripherals plugged in 24/7, nothing changes when it stops showing iPhone info in R main Finder pane. My iPhone still will charge. It is a real pain for me to restart my Mac because I have multiple documents and a few finder windows open & many Safari tabs open. [Re-Titled By Moderator]

iPhone 12 can't connect to my Mac iPhone 12 cannot be read by our home Mac. Cannot back up or synch. All software up to date. Devices have been shut down and restarted. Only option provided is to restore hit Restore iPhone, which erases everything. Any suggestions? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Thanks for the reply. The only thing that worked was updating the phone to 16.1 and the OS to Ventura. Glad someone found the potholes in the previous versions.
