The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.

Try again, and when you see Slide… keep holding until you see an Apple logo.
And if it still doesn’t work contact Apple about a hardware repair.
Yes, OG battery. Late reply since I ran it down in hopes that would allow it to “reboot”. Unable to access the maximum capacity since the screen is unresponsive. However, the battery charge state is currently 98%.
Thanks for the tip. Tried it a few times with no luck. It looks like it restarts but the touch functions are not working; flashlight, Cancel, slide to power off, swipe up to unlock.
