CDPFollowUpExtension? A scam?

My Mac ask me to re-enter my user password and when I choose " forgot my password", a popup with : CDPFollowUpExtension want to make changes...

Is this a scam, virus or legit OS software?

How do I know it is safe to send my password here? This is likely safe - but, I just get a bit wary when asked to enter my MacBook password through what appears to be a website. The site is www.tinkercad.com A friend sent me this link to view something: https://www.tinkercad.com/login?next=%2Fthings%2F7RoAFGW3UxV-morse-id%2Feditel%3Fsharecode%3DFyMm1BLdLwZyZ0AwyKbx9U8ISyzkbrOBxCMJqjqRB_c However, I needed to create a password for that site in order to see whatever it is my friend sent me. One of the options to login is to use my Apple ID. At some point I was asked for my MacBook password. How do I really know this is safe? How do I know my password isn't going to Autodesk.com? I know it isn't - but, I want assurances here.

It is part of the operating system. Other people have reported a similar pop-up under similar circumstances.
