Advanced Data Protection

When I turn on Advanced Data Protection I get a message “Something went wrong”. I have 2FA ‘on’, each Apple device with iOS 16.3, and Account Recovery with both a ‘trusted contact’ and a Recovery key.

Can someone tell me why I get that message and what has to be done to successfully launch Advanced Data Protectikn?

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Problem solved. What the problem was my iPhone had an alphanumeric passcode while my iPad had a numeric passcode.

I changed my iPad passcode to an alphanumeric one. Advanced data protection (ADP) then worked.

To use ADP, Apple’s ‘fine print’ requires the use of only an alphanumeric passcode.
