Subtitles keep coming back on

How can I stop subtitles from coming on? I’ve gone to settings and it’s off for automatic subtitles. Still they come on when I use the app. It’s annoying!

Could it be that you have Closed Captions activated?

This might be an Accessibility setting inside the Apple TV app, or else on some devices: the general device settings for captions (Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Closed Captions). See which applies to you.
