The Wi-Fi symbol is in the status bar because the phone has a Wi-Fi connection. Are you asking about the CELLULAR network signal strength icon in the middle of the screen? If that is what you are asking about either it is in your screen wallpaper, or it is a glitch in iOS. So the first step is to restart your phone→Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
