Appa moving themselves to fill empty slots on pages.

this started for me with IOS 16. I’ve always kept my apps organized by category on separate pages of the Home Screen. Some pages have more apps than others. After the update, when I delete or even move an app, it causes a domino of self moving apps automatically filling the empty slots of previous pages, causing apps to be on wrong page for me. If you move one from a page, the entire app collection shifts left causing a huge problem. I am unable to move an app without triggering all others to move. It disallows any free slots on pages at all. I have seen numerous complaints about this, but no apple responses that have addressed this. Is there a setting to stop this or is this just a really horrible update that eliminates users ability to organize apps as they always have been able to? iPhone should never automatically reposition my apps and take the organization of the user’s hands. Huge problem & makes android look more inviting every day. If there is a solution, Please advise.. Thank you.

Keep in mind that this is a user to user forum, Apple does not normally reads these posts.

FWIW i have an iPhone 13 Pro on 16.3.1 and I don't have that issue. I am able to keep my apps where I want them and I have open spaces on multiple pages.

I suggest trying a Forced Restart, it resolves many issues.

A suggestion to try, long shot....

Move one app to a totally empty page.

Then move another one to another empty page.

Do the empty slots in the previous pages fill up? Are you able to keep the moves on the new pages?

If not about the only option I can think of is to Restore your system as this is not normal. I would create a backup on a computer, Mac or PC, and then do a Restore as new. Test the ability to move the default apps and if ok then restore the backup to the phone, time consuming I know...
