MacBook Pro rejecting correct Apple ID and password

I am having issues connecting my apple ID to my MacBook pro(early 2015 model). I attempt to sign in my apple ID through the system preferences page and when I add in the correct information it seems to neither accept or deny it which then takes me back to the option/ original page of filling in my apple ID username. I have updated my mac to the lastest version of MacOs Monetery (12.6.5) as well as switching email accounts for the apple ID with a changed password. How can I fix this issue?

Try again while the iMac is booted in SafeMode. Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

No success with the SafeMode, continues to have the same issue after restarting in it. However I did try and create a new user on the mac which allowed me to enter my apple ID for that new user but when going back to the main user(Admin) it does not allow and goes back to original issue stated.

Good info that it’s not an issue in a new user. Have you tried disabling any antivirus software or VPN’s while logged into your main user?
