Apple Music Across Different Devices

I have my account synced up to three personal devices that I switch out depending on if I’m at home, in the car, etc. I’ve recently started having issues with the History feature on my iPhone, songs aren’t registering to my playback history. I tried to close out the app and clear it, but when I get the prompt to do so, it allows me to press the button and nothing happens.

I also enjoy Replay ‘23 so I can listen to my most played songs of the year together in a playlist. I want to make sure that my playback history is being recorded across my devices and updating the playlist as usual.

Hi JLH213,

Apple Music Replay obtains the information necessary for the creation of your Replay list using:

  • "Your listening history in Apple Music
  • The number of plays to a song, artist, album, playlist, genre, and station
  • The amount of time spent listening to a song, artist, album, playlist, genre, and station"

This information is collected when you "Sign in with the same Apple ID that you use with your Apple Music subscription." on devices. You also need to ensure that Listening History is enabled on each device you use:

  • "On your iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Music and turn on Use Listening History.
  • On your Mac: In the Apple Music app, choose Music > Settings, click the General tab, then select Use Listening History.
  • On your Android: At the top of the Apple Music app, tap the More button, tap Settings, then turn on Use Listening History."

If you have reason to believe this feature is enabled but not operating as designed, you may try disabling and re-enabling it first. Should the concern continue, reach out to Apple Support directly to investigate further.

Regards.
